Daniel Tekunoff (Biography)
Daniel Tekunoff is a young musician who is pursuing a career as a classical guitarist and composer. He studied classical guitar through the Allegro School of Music in Tucson, Arizona under instructor Joshua Brown for nearly ten years. He was a featured performer during his own highschool graduation, the Arizona Families for Home Education (AFHE) 2010 graduation in May, which was held at the Phoenix Civic Center with hundreds in attendance. In January 2010, Daniel was invited to Hawaii to perform on From the Top's NPR Radio Program. While there, he visited schools in Waimea and Kona alongside From the Top staff to inspire and impart musical interest to younger children. He won third place in the 2009 Parkening Young Guitarist Competition, being one of ten internationally chosen young guitarists age 17 and under, which was held at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California on May 26-27th. Daniel won first place in the guitar division of the Phoenix Youth Symphony Young Musicians Competition in January 2008. Also, during August 2008, he participated in the Senior Youth division of the Guitar Foundation of America's competition in San Francisco, California. He has also performed in masterclasses for many distinguished artists including David Leisner, Scott Tennant, Adam Holzman, and Jason Vieaux; has been a featured performer for the Tucson Guitar Society, and was the solo opening performer for one of folk guitarist Michael Gulezian's concerts in 2006. In 2006 and early 2007, he inspired young potential guitar students as he presented mini-concerts in various schools throughout the southern Arizona valley. For the last two years, Daniel has performed for weddings and other events, and teaches guitar lessons. He possesses a large and growing repetoire necessary for events of long duration, and accepts special music requests. |
